Maria Shriver Women of Vision Split with Arnold Achwarzenegger

A couple split, well you might think what’s so great news about it, many do these days due to hectic life, professional or personal problems what’s the big deal, It indeed a sad news for many because the couple are not just celebrities but an inspiration to many in their own way and have admirers and fans all over the world. We are talking about Arnold and Maria who are known for their 25 years of good marriage and love.

On May 9, 2011, Schwarzenegger and Shriver announced their separation after 25 years of marriage, with Shriver moving out of the couple's Brentwood mansion. They have four children, Katherine [22] Christina [20] Patrick [17] Christopher [14].

Today my article is dedicate to Maria Shriver  one of the world’s most influential voices on the shifting roles, emerging power and evolving needs of women in modern life .Maria is not know just as wife of Arnold  Schwarzenegger 38th Governor of California but also philanthropist, writer and journalist.

 ·         Maria Shriver is Granddaughter of Joseph P. Kennedy and Rose Kennedy.

·         Shriver is a graduate of Georgetown University, with a degree in American Studies.

·         Shriver was born in Chicago, Illinois. A Roman Catholic [3] of German descent through her father and Irish American descent through her mother.

·         She is the second child and only daughter of the politician Sargent Shriver and Eunice Kennedy Shriver.

·         The separation announcement comes months after the death of Shriver's father, Peace Corps founder and former vice presidential candidate Sargent Shriver, in January.

·         She married Schwarzenegger on April 26, 1986, in Hyannis, Massachusetts, at St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church.

 ·         In 1986, she joined NBC News as a correspondent for the news show 1986 and an anchor for Main Street, a news magazine aimed at young people

·         With a career in journalism spanning more than two decades, Shriver has been a network news correspondent and anchor for CBS and NBC, winning Peabody and Emmy Awards.

·         She is the author of six New York Times best-selling books.

·         Shriver has been a lifelong advocate for people with intellectual disabilities.  She is also on the advisory board of Best Buddies, a one-to-one friendship and jobs program for people with intellectual disabilities.

·         Maria Shriver serves as Chair of the Audi Best Buddies Challenge: Hearst Castle, a bike ride that raises millions of dollars for programs supporting people with intellectual disabilities.

 ·         Shriver has been instrumental in the hiring of individuals with intellectual disabilities in the capitol and in various state offices through her WE Include program.

·         On February 3, 2004, Shriver asked to be "relieved of her duties at NBC News," citing concerns the network had over the conflict of interest between her role as a journalist and her status as the First Lady of California and her increasing role as an advocate of her husband's administration.

·         Under Shriver’s leadership, The California Governor and First Lady’s Conference on Women – an element of the WE Empower program grew into the nation’s premier forum for women, with more than 14,000 attendees every year since 2004.

·         In 2004, Shriver created The Minerva Awards to honor and reward "remarkable California women" who have changed their communities, their state, their country and the world with their courage, wisdom and strength.

·         In February 2008, Shriver launched an ice cream company called Lovin' Scoopful with her brother, Tim Shriver. Twenty-five percent of the proceeds from Lovin' Scoopful benefit the Special Olympics.

·         Shriver is also a vocal advocate for families that like her own who  are struggling with Alzheimer’s disease

  ·         Shriver executive-produced The Alzheimer's Project, a four-part documentary series that premiered on HBO in May 2009 and later earned two Emmy Awards. The series took a close look at cutting-edge research being done in the country's leading Alzheimer's laboratories. The documentary also examined the effects of this disease on patients and families.

·         One of the Emmy Award-winning films, Grandpa, Do you Know Who I Am? is based on Shriver's best-selling children's book dealing with Alzheimer's.

·         Shriver created groundbreaking programs have educated, enlisted, empowered, connected, and honored people who are what she calls “Architects of Change” in their own lives and in the lives of others. She has successfully motivated people to get involved and unite across gender, economic, and party lines.

·         In October 2009, Shriver launched "The Shriver Report: A Woman's Nation Changes Everything," a national study and comprehensive report conducted in partnership with the Center for American Progress.

·           The Shriver Report revealed that American woman, for the first time, make up half of the United States workforce and studied how that fact is impacting major institutions like family, business, and government and faith organizations.

·         Maria Shevers serves on the advisory board of the Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health in Las Vegas, a new institute that will serve as a national resource for the most current research and scientific information for the treatment of Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and Huntington’s diseases.

 ·         In 2009, Shriver was honored with the Shinnyo-en Foundation’s 2009 Pathfinders to Peace Award, which is bestowed annually to a person who exemplifies the ideals of compassion, harmony and peace.

·         She has won prestigious Peabody and Emmy awards for her television journalism.

·         A rose Flower species was named after Shriver in October 2004. The Maria Shriver rose contains starchy-white blooms and a powerful citrus fragrance.
